About Us!

Leeds Daytime Choir is a Community Choir that meets every Wednesday at 2.00pm at the Trinity Methodist Church, Bramley, Leeds.

We sing a wide selection of music ranging from songs from Musicals, old Classics and current Pop Songs! Unlike our sister choir (Leeds Musical Theatre Choir) we are not exclusive to songs from Musical's so there is a great opportunity to cover lots of different types of music.

In our rehearsals you will be taught how to sing as a part of a choir, but there is also a huge focus on the sessions being friendly and fun!

What to expect from a typical session

1.30pm - You can arrive early to have a chat with your fellow choir members

2.00pm - The choir session and learning begins! We will constantly be learning new songs. Singing together, whilst learning proper vocal technique and musicality.

2.45pm-3.15pm - Tea Break! An opportunity to grab a complimentary cup of tea or coffee, and maybe a cheeky biscuit!

3.15pm-4.00pm - Return to singing! We will finish our session off with more singing and learning new songs!

Frequently Asked Questions

If any of your questions are not answered below you can get in touch with us here

I've never sung in a choir before, can I still join?

ABSOLUTELY! Our Choir has been set up to encourage as many people as possible to start singing! Singing can be a nerve-wracking experience but our Choir is set up in order to encourage everyone to give it a try. There is no audition required to come and join us, you will be singing with lots of other people and will never be asked to sing on your own. Everyone CAN sing, and there is no better feeling than when you are having a great time singing with lots of other people.

What are the goals of the choir?

It's simple..... we want to SOUND great and FEEL great!

We will strive to make sure we are sounding amazing by learning how to sing in a Choir properly. But will do this whilst having LOADS of FUN!

Will there be Concerts?

It would be lovely to give you all the opportunity to showcase all the music you have learnt throughout our rehearsals. The size and scale of the concerts will depend on the size of the choir. The larger the choir grows the bigger our concerts will be!

What if I do not want to take part in the concerts? That is totally fine! The sessions will not be just focused on the concerts. So if you wish to come along, have a good old sing and not participate in the concerts that is fine!

What If I can't read Music?

Do you need to be able to read sheet music to be able to sing 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas?'

The same applies here! You will be provided with sheet music and taught how to read it but there is also lyrics on the sheet music to follow along with. Many of the members in our sister choir, Leeds Musical Theatre Choir, didn't read sheet music when they first joined but now couldn't do without it.

What sort of Music will we sing!?

Old classics, Modern Pop Songs, Songs from Movies and Musicals.... the list goes on!

We will have a system where you can suggest songs you wish to sing too! We want to focus on songs you love. So we really listen to your suggestions.

If Robert thinks it will sound good when arranged into a version suitable for our choir, then we will do it!

Do I need to come every week?

Of course not! We are not a super strict choir that will banish you for having something else to do! We know that there will be times when you are not able to be with us at rehearsal. In these cases, you can catch up at home by using the online resources we provide. But even if you can't find the time to do that we will be revisiting the songs at some point in the future.

What are the online resources? And do I have to use them?

The online resources are there for those that wish to practice in between rehearsals. It is not compulsory to practice at home, although if you wish to.... GREAT!

We provide a recording of every song with just your part on it, so you can listen to what you should be singing at home. These will be available on the website in the member's area.

Is there parking? And is the venue accessible?

There is a car park at the rear of the Church, as well as on street parking. There are no steps in order to access the Church making it fully accessible to anyone in a wheel chair. There is also a separate accessible bathroom.

How often do you rehearse?

We rehearse once a week on a Wednesday afternoon. We do not have any rehearsals during the Christmas Holidays, Easter Holidays and Summer Holidays (August). The dates of our breaks fall in line with the Leeds School Holidays. Membership fee's are still due during these months as the Monthly fee's are worked out to take into account the cost of running the choir during the whole year.

I am ready to join! How much does it cost? and how do I join?

We have 2 membership options. A monthly subscription for £30, or a Yearly membership for £300. Members of Leeds Musical Theatre Choir qualify for 50% off their membership fees.

Our membership includes all your sheet music printed, our weekly rehearsals, access to our member's area and all our learning resources, access to our private Facebook group, opportunities to participate in concerts and of course..... a complimentary cup of tea or coffee at our rehearsals.
