Please note the choir will not have rehearsals during the Leeds school Winter and Easter holidays. There will also not be any rehearsals during August.

If you have a passion for Musical Theatre and a love of singing with others then Leeds Musical Theatre Community Choir is the perfect place for you to come and express yourself, make friends and have an amazing time singing your favourite theatre songs from the stage and screen!

As a member of Leeds Musical Theatre Community Choir you’ll receive the highest quality vocal and choral training along with experiencing the joy of singing with like minded people.

The choirs intentions are simple and made up of two things, Sounding Great! and Feeling Great!

What you get when you join the Choir

- Weekly Rehearsals on Monday (7.45pm - 9.15pm) or Thursday (7.30pm - 9.00pm)

- Online resources to 'practice at home' including Backing Tracks and Sheet Music

- Vocal and Musical training and from an Award Winning Musical Director

How much does it cost?

There are 2 payment options,

This fee covers the weekly rehearsals and access to the rehearsal materials. The choir also performs at least 2 times a year, typically at the end of each term with a larger concert at Christmas time with the professional choir and community choir.

Do I Need to Audition?

There is no audition process to be a part of Leeds Musical Theatre Choir, just a passion for Musical Theatre and an appetite to grow and learn as a performer and the openness to make a whole load of new friends!

How often do you rehearse?

Every Monday from 7.45 - 9.15 or Thursday from7.30-9.00pm at Bramley Trinity Church

Term Time only (breaks at Christmas/Easter/August)

If for any reason you can't make your usual rehearsal date you can come on the other day of the week.

Do I need to be able to read music?

You do not need to be able to read sheet music to be able to join the choir. We do give every member sheet music and lyrics for each song and we teach from these resources but it is not essential to read sheet music. Throughout your time with us though you will slowly learn to read music within the rehearsals, but the focus of the sessions is having fun and sounding great!

Who is in charge of the Choir and the Sessions?

Robert Sanders is an award winning Musical Director, Composer and Arranger based in Leeds. He founded the professional Choir of Leeds Musical Theatre in 2020 and the Community Choir in 2022.

Robert has over 10 years experience in professional theatre having worked across the world for the Walt Disney Company. He has had 2 original musicals commissioned and performed in Yorkshire and at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. He is currently the musical director for the Yorkshire Christmas Spectacular, Yorkshire Tour of RENT the musical and PLAGUE an original music he composed which won the award 'BEST SHOW AT THE FRINGE' in 2022.

What sort of music do you sing?

Our repertoire consists of everybody's favourite songs from Stage and Screen.

We try and combine the classics, such as, Mary Poppins, Les Mis, Oliver, South Pacific, The Sound of Music with more modern musical theatre such as, 'Dear Evan Hansen', 'Waitress', 'The Bodyguard', 'Hamilton'.

We also explore the music of 'musical movies' such as 'A Star is Born', 'The Greatest Showman', 'Rocket Man', 'Grease' as well as making plenty of room for all the fantastic music from the wonderful 'Disney Movies' throughout the decades.
